Rick Pitino has agreed to terms to join North Carolina as head basketball coach, sources confirm. The Hall of Fame coach is set to return to Chapel Hill, where he led the Tar Heels to a national title in 1993.
Pitino, 70, is leaving St. John’s after a tumultuous tenure. He’s expected to bring his signature energy and recruiting prowess to Carolina.
