Breaking: Manchester Utd is paying the ultimate price to land a £70 million Everton defender.

Everton has turned down two offers from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite; the Toffees are holding out for a sum of money close to £70 million for the 22-year-old defender.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a transfer target for Manchester United, and Everton is sticking to its price, bringing comparisons to Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana.

The Red Devils’ talent scouts have highlighted Everton center-back as a key acquisition, and talks between the two Premier League rivals are still ongoing. In spite of this, Everton turned down an initial offer of $44.8 million plus further payments.

There were attempts to raise the bid to $57.4 million with an additional $6.4 million. The Toffees, meanwhile, are said to have rejected this offer as well and are reportedly demanding about $89.5 million. This high price tag can be linked to Chelsea, the Blues’ Premier League rival.

This price tag was set by Everton based on precisely such an agreement. In 2022, Chelsea mediated a significant $89.5 million agreement with Leicester, but things haven’t worked out as planned. The Frenchman suffered due to persistent ailments, playing in just 20 games in two seasons across all categories.

Due to his glaring absence from the previous campaign, Chelsea had to look elsewhere for defensive options, which is why they signed Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, and Tosin Adarabioyo after Fofana arrived. United has to decide whether to change their offer for Branthwaite next. Sean Dyche stated earlier this year that Everton had no plans to sell in this regard.

The Blues coach said, “We don’t want to sell any good players.” “It’s that easy, and [Branthwaite] has shown himself to be an excellent player. We don’t work with companies who try to sell players.

“Players are only sold when necessary or when an issue arises. Since there isn’t a problem, my only wish is that we won’t have to sell players. We certainly don’t right now, so we’ll see.

It’s possible that United decides to sign other defenders this summer in addition to Branthwaite. Matthijs de Ligt, a standout player for Bayern Munich and the Netherlands, has also been suggested as a possible recruit.
