Some Wrexham supporters believe that the signing of highly regarded defender Max Cleworth to a new contract is the “best news ever.”

The 21-year-old, who is expected to become a future star in the Premier League, inked a three-year contract that will run through 2027. With 99 total appearances, he has assisted the Red Dragons in back-to-back promotions as Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, the team’s Hollywood co-owners, make dreams come true in North Wales.

“I’m delighted and I wanted to get the contract signed as soon as possible because the club is going in one direction, and I want to be part of the plan going forwards,” Cleworth stated on the club’s official website after agreeing to new terms. I’m a stronger player now that I’ve grown and matured, and I’m excited to continue improving with the team.

“Max has been on a great journey with us so far, and I’ve really enjoyed watching him develop as a player,” manager Phil Parkinson continued. He is a player with a lot of potential, and it is crucial for the team to retain its young players.

The two-time Young Player of the Year for Wrexham is staying put, which has thrilled the team’s supporters. @kevwrexham1974 posted on social media, calling it the “best news ever.” @RichFay confirmed these feelings when he stated, “Best bit of business we’ll do all summer.” Following same vein, @ DaveEdWxm continued, saying: “Massive signing and signal of intent from the club… great news Max has had a superb season.”

Reynolds and McElhenney are still providing the funding needed to close agreements this summer. Lewis Brunt has been signed by SToK Racecourse from Leicester, Arthur Okonkwo has returned to the racecourse permanently, and Cleworth has signed a new contract alongside George Evans.

After undergoing surgery, Wrexham’s star striker Paul Mullin will miss the team’s next preseason trip of North America. On August 10, the team will play their home opener in League One against Wycombe.
